Konstantin Yenkoyan

Academic Biography

Yenkoyan is the Vice-Rector for Science and Head of Neuroscience Laboratory of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi (YSMU).

He graduated from YSMU where he defended 2 degree theses and at the age of 28 was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Science. At the age of 29 he was appointed Professor of the Biochemistry Department of YSMU. The title of Professor was given to him at the age of 33 by the Supreme Certifying Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

Currently, he is coordinating EU Horizon 2020(COBRAIN) project – “Armenia Center for Translational Research on Chronic Neurodegenerative Disorders: A Neuroscience Initiative on Maintaining Healthy Brain Ageing” which is a TWINNING action in the field of Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation. He is also involved in EU Horizon 2020 Fast Track to Innovation project titled “Ser-Col; from finger to laboratory; personalized and automated serum collection for laboratory diagnostics” (SCAUT) as a Coordinator of Partner University. He is the PI of the project “Scientific-Educational Center for Fundamental Brain Research” which is being implemented in cooperation with the Center for Education Projects PIU of the Ministry of  Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA and World Bank.

Dr. Yenkoyan also has experience in peer-reviewing projects of different types funded by Science Committee of the Ministry of the Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia. He is the member of  Editorial Advisory Council of the New Armenian Medical Journal since 2015. In November 2020 he was selected Project Peer Reviewer of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. His candidacy as Review Editor on the Editorial Board of  Frontiers in Pain Research was confirmed in December 2020.

His interest in R&D is related to Natural Sciences and Basic Medicine. The main research focus of Dr. Yenkoyan is Neuroscience, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Neurochemistry, Medical Sciences, Alzheimer’s disease, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

He has proven record in research management, scientific supervision as well as teaching.
