Academic Biography

YSMU Rector, Professor Armen Muradyan was a PhD student at the YSMU Department of Oncology
and Radiation Therapy in 1998-2000. In 2000, he defended his PhD thesis on "Issues regarding the
precancerous condition of the prostate and the predictor models of the cancer clinical course." In
2003-2011, he established and headed the Department of Urology at YSMU. In 2003-2008, was the
head of the Urology Clinic of "Armenia" Republican Medical Center. In 2004-2006, he was appointed
Advisor to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia. In 2005-2011, he was Professor at
YSMU. In 2005, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Clinical-biological basics for improving the
treatment of disseminated prostate cancer." In 2006-2014, he was the Chief Urologist of the RA
Ministry of Health. In 2008-2012 he worked as the first (medical) Deputy Director of the "National
Oncology Center" after V.A. Fanarjyan of the RA Ministry of Health. In 2009 – 2013, he was the
President of the Armenian Urological Association. In 2012-2014, he acted as the Executive Director
of "Izmirlian" Medical Center. Since 2014, he has been the Head of the YSMU Department of Urology
and Andrology. From April 23, 2014 to September 9, 2016, he held the position of the Minister of
Health of the Republic of Armenia. Since 2016, he has been the Rector of YSMU.
