Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi (Coordinating institution) is a state non- commercial foundation functioning under the Ministry of Education,  Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia. Today YSMU is the only state institution in Armenia to train physicians and biomedical research staff. It is a teaching-oriented university with a well-established research culture and ethos, as well as relevant mechanisms for validating research outcomes. The main tasks of the University can be set in 3 areas: a) organizing teaching and training of clinicians, healthcare professionals, military medical personnel, dentists, pharmacologists as well as medical education and biomedical research staff; b) providing health services to the population ranging from primary health care, prophylactics to intensive treatment; c) implementing research activities directed to the solution of current priority issues on the national and international level. The University education, research and clinical activities are being organized in 7 faculties (General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Military Medicine, Public Health, Postgraduate and Continuing Education, International Students’ Education), 106 academic departments, 2 in-patient and 6 out-patient clinics, Scientific Research Center with 12 laboratories, and Simulation Center. The University with approximately 7000 students has more than 3000 employees both academic and non-academic. It has an exclusive role in the region as an academic institution hosting international students from more than 40 countries.
