Eberhard Karls University Tübingen (EKUT) is one of the leading German Universities with both, a long academic tradition and excellent reputation in
research. It is consistently ranked among the top ten of German universities and has a strong focus on biomedical sciences. At EKUT international, multidisciplinary
teams work on collaborative projects with partners in Europe, Japan and the US. The University of Tübingen has an international leading role in neuroscience
research in general as well as in specific disciplines such as neuroimaging. This was proven by awarding a centre of excellence, the “Interdisciplinary Centre for
Integrative Neuroscience” (http://www.neuroscience-tuebingen.de/cin/), to Tübingen in 2007. This is a consequence of the foundation of the Hertie-Institute
for Clinical Brain Research (HIH) and the appointment of a number of new professors working on genetic, molecular and cellular biology as well as clinics of neurodegenerative diseases at the HIH and the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics. Last but not least, in 2012 the University has been awarded the
status of an “Eliteuniversität” (Elite University) under the German Universities Excellence Initiative.
