Horizon2020 COBRAIN project was officially launched on 24 January, 2020 in the heart of Yerevan with welcome speeches delivered by RA Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan, Ambassador of the EU to the Republic of Armenia, Head of Delegation Andrea Wiktorin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany Michael Johannes Banzhaf, Minister-Counsellor, Chargé d’Affaires a. i. of the Embassy of Sweden in Armenia Birger Karlsson, COBRAIN Project Officer, Research Executive Agency Wilco Graafmans. A special welcome speech was given by Armen Muradyan, Rector of YSMU as project Coordinating University. COBRAIN received special video welcome address from the COBRAIN External Advisory Board in the name of internationally renowned scientists Aaron Ciechanover, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry and Zaven Khachaturian, the “Chief Architect” of extramural programmes of research on Brain Ageing and Alzheimer’s disease. Being involved in COBRAIN as independent experts in support to its implementation, they wished the Consortium a successful start and fruitful cooperation during the lifetime of the project and beyond it. The Project Coordinator Konstantin Yenkoyan, Vice-Rector for Science of the Coordinating University presented the whole concept underlying the COBRAIN project and the “Brain” initiative of Armenia. The event was also attended by the representatives of partner universities Lusine Danielyan, (EKUT, Germany), Hoa Huu Phuc Nguyen, (RUB, Germany) Deniz Kirik, (ULUND, Sweden) who represented their role in the project thoroughly addressing the existing research and innovation potential of the respective institutions. At a separate close session the Project Officer from the EC Research Executive Agency Wilco Graafmans made a speech on the practical aspects of the implementation of twinning projects with principal focus on crucial points of reviewing, reporting, dissemination, ublication in open access etc.
